CA Number

The CA number is required for anyone who is operating with a DOT number that is based in California. Some out-of-state carriers must also obtain the Motor Carrier Permit and a CA number to operate point-to-point in California.

The CA number works virtually the same as a USDOT number, but it is separate and required in addition to an active USDOT number. You will be required to display the CA number alongside the DOT number on both sides of your vehicle. This is also a prerequisite for the Motor Carrier Permit. If you do not have an active CA number, you will not be able to obtain a Motor Carrier Permit through California.

Upon checkout, you will receive a request for information by email from the legal department. Once we receive the necessary information from you, we will submit the application and notify you once the CA number has been granted.
