Biennial Update
Biennial updates are required by 49 CFR 390.19(b)(4). Any carriers currently in operation must submit biennial updates to maintain an active status and avoid any fines or out-of-service notifications for non-filing.
The biennial update is an update to the DOT number itself, and is required to be filed at least every two years, with the a deadline based on the last two digits of your USDOT number. The chart is as follows:
2nd to last digit
Even number, file every even-numbered year.
Odd number, file every odd-numbered year.
Last digit
Required to be filed by the last day of:
1 - January
2 - February
3 - March
4 - April
5 - May
6 - June
7 - July
8 - August
9 - September
0 - October
For the lifetime filing, a member of our legal team will be contacting you every two years to gather the information required and automatically submit the update on your behalf. This is a one-time purchase with no additional charges relating to the update for the life of your USDOT number. Recommended for operations lasting more than a few years.
For the standard filing, we will submit the update to your DOT number once, and your update will need to be performed again in the future.
Our legal department will submit the update for you, ensuring accuracy and avoiding any potential out of service notices for failure to complete the update. After checkout, you will be contacted by your compliance agent to confirm your order, and gather the information required to file the update, such as; changes to drivers, vehicles, addresses, business name, and estimated mileage operated in the previous calendar year.
