CA Number

The CA number is required for anyone who is operating with a DOT number that is based in California. The CA number works virtually the same as a DOT Number, but it is separate and required in addition with a USDOT Number. You are required to display the CA number alongside the DOT number on both sides of your vehicle.

This is a prerequisite for the Motor Carrier Permit. If you do not already have an active CA Number, you will not be able to obtain a Motor Carrier Permit through California.
